NHS Buckinghamshire has selected thebigword as its primary provider for both Interpreting and Translation services.

Below, you’ll find an overview of the services available through thebigword and the different avenues staff can utilise to access these vital resources:

Face-to-Face Interpreting

Face-to-face interpreting services for meetings, appointments, and conferences.

Telephone and Remote Interpreting

Instant access to interpreters via phone, facilitating communication in real-time.

Video and Document Translation

Accurate translation of videos and written materials, including reports, manuals, and official documents, across various languages and formats.

Sign Solutions

Sign solutions can be used to access on demand BSL interpreters via an video platform, and can be used as an alternative to booking a F2F interpreter for BSL.

Telephone Interpreting Services

Telephone Interpreting

Telephone Interpreting (TI) is available on demand for over 250 languages and dialects, with an impressive average connection time of under 60 seconds.

To request the service, simply call thebigword at 0333 344 9473. You’ll need to enter your team-specific access code (provided by Heads of Service) followed by your Language code. For detailed instructions, please refer to the Telephone Interpreting user guide below.

Additionally, you can access our Telephone Interpreting services conveniently through the WordSynk app.

Face-to-Face Interpreting

Face-to-Face (F2F) interpreting requests, catering to both spoken and non-spoken languages, can be conveniently pre-booked through our online booking portal, IMS. For detailed instructions, please refer to the user guide below.

Please be aware that access to the portal requires completion of the attached new user form below, which should then be returned to ukgovinterpreting@thebigword.com.

Document Translation

Documents can be securely submitted to our online translation portal, the Translation Management System (TMS). Upon submission, thebigword will promptly provide a quote and timeline for the job.

The requester can then decide whether to proceed with the translation or reject the quote. For detailed guidance on the request process, please refer to the attached TMS user guide.

Please note that access to the portal can be granted upon completion of the attached new user form, which should be returned to ukgovinterpreting@thebigword.com.
