Staff at the Leeds headquarters of global business, thebigword, will be putting on their dancing shoes all in the aid of charity. On Tuesday 17th February, local Martin House Children’s Hospice fundraiser, Roger Fielding, will be treating thebigword staff to Argentine Tango taster sessions during their lunch break.
As a parent who brings his son to Martin House Children’s Hospice, Roger Fielding has done his fair share of fundraising for the hospice. On Tuesday he will be using his lunch hour to practise his newly acquired dance skills and raise more funds towards his Strictly Get Dancing challenge for Martin House in the reception area of the technology-driven language solutions company.
Roger’s son, Oliver, died four years ago, just before his 13th birthday. His youngest son, Max, faces the same life-limiting condition and as a family they spend time together at Martin House. Louis, Roger’s middle son, who has faced particular challenges with his brothers, also loves staying at the hospice. The family greatly appreciated their bereavement support following Oliver’s death and continue to benefit from the hospice support and care for Max.
Martin House’s “Strictly Get Dancing” is a huge event involving two months of intense and demanding dance lessons, throughout January and February 2015, in Argentine tango and waltz. 15 couples will gather in a glittering grand final spectacular on February 28th at the Engine Shed in Wetherby.
Roger said: “This event brings together my deep wish to contribute what I can to Martin House’s brilliantly supportive work with life limited children and their families, with my developing love of that most addictive and yet elusive of dances, Argentine Tango.”
Martin House is the chosen charity for thebigword and on the 17th February at 1pm staff at thebigword will congregate in the main reception to help Roger to raise money for Martin House.
