thebigword secures contract renewals with various NHS Trusts across the country

Global language Technology company, thebigword, has secured contract renewals with various NHS Trusts across the country to continue to support them with their language service needs.

thebigword will be able to continue to support Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care, Royal Brompton and Harefield’s Hospitals, Harrogate NHS, and South Central & West NHS with a number of language services including face to face, telephone and video remote interpreting – as well as translation services.

Language services are key to successful communication and are a significant part of healthcare. Not only do they reduce communication barriers for limited English speakers, but they protect patients and provide a sense of security whilst they are unable to communicate.

James Toal, Head of Account Management at thebigword Interpreting said: “With these contract renewals, thebigword will continue to provide support, helping doctors, nurses and other NHS staff across the country when communicating with patients. These services assist by reducing discrimination and recognising diversity so that every patient is equal and can have control over the healthcare that they receive.”

Language services are an essential part of clear communication between a healthcare worker and their patient in emergency situations to help sustain human life. These NHS trusts will be able to access thebigword’s WordSynk Telephone Interpreting (TI) and Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) services.

WordSynk VRI connects hospitals and healthcare professionals to professional interpreters, saving time and money for the hospital and reducing the need for travel, bringing people from different cultures together to break down language barriers.
