With a strong focus on quality, inclusion, and ethical innovation, Signapse combines cutting-edge AI with human oversight to deliver accurate, culturally authentic translations across transport, digital media, and live environments.
Signapse also champions representation and inclusivity through its Deaf Leadership Board, which plays a central role in guiding product development and ensuring that Deaf perspectives are embedded at every level of the organisation.
CLIENT REQUIREMENT
Our client, an education provider, required approximately 2,192 educational videos – each averaging 30 minutes in length – to be translated into British Sign Language to improve accessibility for Deaf learners.
CHALLENGE
The client faced a significant challenge due to the large volume of content and the short turnaround time. The volume of videos meant that it was not feasible to translate all the content into BSL using traditional methods within the required timeframe or budget.
SOLUTION
thebigword leveraged its long-term partnership with Signapse to deliver a scalable, high-quality solution using their AI tools. By working with Signapse and deploying their AI software to streamline and accelerate the translation workflow, we were able to deliver more than 220 BSL-translated videos per month.
Every video was translated and validated by a human BSL translator, ensuring accuracy and cultural appropriateness. This hybrid approach enabled the delivery of more than 220 BSL videos per month, achieving over 70% cost savings compared to a traditional translation approach.

“Our partnership with thebigword has allowed us to combine our AI technology with their expertise in translation and accessibility to deliver British Sign Language content at scale. The collaboration demonstrates the power of human expertise and technology working hand in hand, enabling public sector clients to communicate faster and more effectively with Deaf communities.” – Signapse Spokesperson
