Commenting on the partnership Sales Director at thebigword Matthew Lowe said: We have a great track record of delivering top quality language services in a healthcare setting and I am delighted that we are able to extend our services to Surrey and Borders NHS Trust.
The Trust will be able to access thebigword’s VRI service. VRI works in a similar way to Skype and FaceTime and connects hospitals to professional interpreters. The Service saves time and money for the hospital and is more convenient for linguists who do not have to travel to fulfil appointments. The hospitals using our VRI services reduces the risk of spreading the COVID-19 virus and protects linguists, patients and medical professionals.
Matthew Lowe added: “Imagine receiving vital information in a medical emergency. Being able to understand what is being communicated could make all the difference between life and death. When conveying important messages, it can be extremely helpful to see the person you are communicating with. Facial expressions and body language set the right tone and help to avoid any misunderstanding.”
