thebigword: supporting our local communities

Global language service provider thebigword has been getting into the Christmas spirit to support local charities who are working to make a difference to those in need during the holiday period.

With the temperature dropping in the States our New York team are helping to keep the city’s most vulnerable residents warm this winter. The New York Cares annual Coat Drive is a city-wide effort which aims to collect over 100,000 coats each year and distribute them to New Yorkers who need them most in the colder months.

Every child deserves to wake up with a smile on their face on Christmas day and at our headquarters in Leeds, thebigword has been supporting Cash for Kids, Mission Christmas Campaign who are aiming to give presents to over 26,000 disadvantaged children in West Yorkshire. From fancy dress competitions to Carol concerts we have managed to raise an overwhelming amount of money as well as deliver hundreds of gifts.

As part of our volunteering programme staff have also supported the charity through bucket collections at the city station, bag packing in local supermarkets and working at the Cash for Kids delivery depot. Our European Sales team also joined in by donating their Christmas party budget to the Cash for Kids campaign.

Lisa Sullivan, Charity Manager at Radio Aire’s Cash for Kids said:  “I really want to thank thebigword for supporting Radio Aire’s Cash for Kids Mission Christmas 2018.

“I am overwhelmed with the support from thebigword, not only have they donated gifts and fundraised over £500, but they have also volunteered with us as well.”

In addition, thebigword has continued to support the Leeds South and East Food Bank and delivered a large supply of food and essentials in time for Christmas.

Global Director of CSR Michele Gould said: “Our staff have been really generous once again. It has been heart-warming to be part of these great causes and I want to thank our amazing team.”
