thebigword ranked among the world’s largest Interpreting companies

Global language technology company, thebigword, has been recognised as a leader in the global language services industry by independent market research firm CSA Research.

CSA Research is the benchmark in research for the language industry and focuses on optimising and innovating industry practises in translation, interpreting, globalisation and internationalization.

Based on validated and verified data from a representative sample of 462 language service providers (LSPs), CSA Research has named thebigword as one of the providers leading the delivery of interpreting services.

The findings are detailed in an August 2020 report, which recognised thebigword as the largest in-person interpreting provider in the world. It is also recognised as the 7th largest provider of over-the-phone interpreting (OPI) services.

With their state-of-the-art WordSynk technology and dedicated network of over 15,000 linguists, thebigword deliver professional language services which are trusted by the top 100 global brands and organisations.

Joshua Gould, CEO of thebigword said: “We are delighted to be named the number one language service provider in the world for our in-person interpreting by the CSA. Businesses around the globe trust us and our WordSynk technology for their language support.”

Hélène Pielmeier, senior analyst at CSA Research commented: “Interpreting is a completely different beast than translation. As soon as you get past ad hoc jobs here and there, it requires distinct talent to deliver the interpreting services, supply chain infrastructure, management technology to coordinate the jobs, tools to support the delivery of the services, and approach when working with clients.”

Following COVID-19, alternative forms of interpreting to onsite were necessity, but as people have adapted to new ways of working thebigword has continued to see Telephone Interpreting and Video Remote Interpreting volumes increase, allowing clients to channel shift. Read more here.

The interpreting services rankings are based on confirmed revenue from 2019—CSA Research found that the market that year for language services and supporting technologies reached US$49.60 billion.
