thebigword to host Police Telephone Interpreting information sessions for linguists

Global language technology company thebigword will be hosting information sessions for linguists on the 14th and 18th January using Microsoft Teams.

The two information sessions will focus on Telephone Interpreting for the Police and cover a variety of topics.

Topics that will be covered during this information session include: what to expect when interpreting for the Police, dealing with custody processes, information about 999 calls as well as 101 calls.

The session will also sign post charities, as well as discussing mental health and GP related issues.

Prior of the event, thebigword will be inviting linguists to submit any questions they would like the panel to answer.

The event will include a panel of experts including members of thebigword team, Samantha Gladman, Erica Baron and Gemma Mullock.

Gemma Mullock, who works closely with thebigword’s network of Linguists said: “We are really looking forward to this information session, as it gives us the opportunity to share important details with our interpreters about working with the Police.

We believe these information sessions will give our linguists an idea of what to expect, and also allow them to ask their own questions about the topics highlighted.”

thebigword’s network of linguists provide expert translation and interpretation support to more than 2,500 customers. Working as key partners with thebigword, the linguist community help break down communication barriers and make the world a smaller place.
