Global language Technology company thebigword has secured contract renewals with various NHS Trusts across the country.
NHS trusts such as Great Ormond Street Hospital, Buckinghamshire NHS, NHS Manchester CCG, Airedale NHS, Royal Brompton NHS and Barnsley NHS have all chosen thebigword to continue to support them in their language service needs.
In these current times with the loss of visitation from family members, being a patient in hospital is a daunting experience, which can be worsened if you are not able to understand what doctors and nurses are trying to tell you.
Interpreters are essential to breaking communication barriers for Limited English Speakers and with these contract renewals, thebigword’s linguists will be able to assist doctors, nurses and other NHS staff across the country when communicating with patients.
These contracts range between 12 to 24 months and will allow thebigword to provide a range of language services including face to face, telephone and video remote interpreting as well as translation services.
Commenting on the contract renewals, Matthew Lowe, Senior Vice President at thebigword said: “I am so delighted that we have been able to extend our services to these NHS trusts. Now more than ever it is essential to be able to protect patients, medical professionals and linguists whilst helping to break communication barriers.
We have a great track record of delivering top quality language services in a healthcare setting and we can’t wait to continue working with these NHS trusts.”
These NHS trusts will be able to access thebigword’s WordSynk Telephone Interpreting (TI) and Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) services, which have seen a rise in demand due to COVID-19.
WordSynk VRI connects hospitals and healthcare professionals to professional interpreters, saving time and money for the hospital and reducing the need for travel during the COVID-19 pandemic.
